John Grein, A.K.A. “Dutch,” was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, later moving to New Jersey where he completed high school. He served 6 years in the United States Navy and is a Vietnam Veteran. During his time in the Navy he specialized in search and rescue and was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Hoist.
After serving in the Navy, John received a degree from Guilford Technical Community College in woodworking and estimating. He has since specialized in custom trim work and design, and has been a licensed General Contractor for 32 years, holding an unlimited license. John currently maintains membership in VFW, American Legion, AMVETS, and the Moose Lodge.
John has also been involved in the community as Chairman of the Board of The Salvation Army and the Salvation Army Boy’s and Girl’s Club. He is a member of The First Presbyterian Church in High Point where he has served in various capacities such as Associate Deacon, Deacon, multiple committees, Sunday School and Wee Kirk leader, and Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 20.
John is an avid supporter of the “ODMF” and a graduate of Penn Foster Career School for dog obedience trainer/instructor. He is also licensed by the State of North Carolina for the training and sale of personal protection dogs.
